Emergency Relief work

Help was provided in various areas affected by September 2014 floods and post landslides of March 2015. Monthly ration, blankets, warm clothing, solar lanterns etc were provided to more than 5000 families.

Educational Rehabilitation Program

Under this program annual school fees is paid for students studying in various schools whose parents are not in a position to bear educational expenses of their children. The program for 2014-15 session was fully funded by IMRC- USA and since then is a continuous activity at Ehsaas. Till now more than 1500 students have benefited from this program.

Scholarship Initiative

JAHANGIRABAD INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Under this initiative full scholarships for various professional courses are offered to talented and bright students who otherwise are not in a position to go for professional courses. A test is conducted every year   to short list candidates for scholarships on merit-cum-means basis. Students are selected for professional courses like MBBS, B. Tech, Law, Management, paramedical courses, etc

 

Ramazan Feed the poor program

 

The program is oriented to provide one month ration which includes food grain, pulses, spices cooking oil, milk powder, atta, tea powder etc to poor families for the month of ramazan.  Ration is provided to beneficiaries at their door steps in the beginning of ramazan. This initiative has been a routine permanent activity since last more than two years.

Chennai Flood Relief 2015

Feeling the pain and sorrows of floods in Chennai, since we had faced the same in 2014, an initiative was started to send volunteers from Kashmir to Chennai along with relief material. Three teams of volunteers went to Chennai daring all odds, travelling to Bangalore and from there in loaded Lorries to Chennai. The relief campaign included medical aid, food grain clothing, mosquito nets etc.. The teams after reaching Chennai joined with IMRC USA who were already on ground for relief activity.

 

Muharram Fruit Distribution:

 

Ehsaas has chosen a different way of paying tribute to Martyrs of Karbala. Every year on the 9th of Muharram, hygienically packed boxes of fresh fruit are distributed among the ailing patients admitted in SKIMS Soura which is a largest tertiary care hospital of Kashmir. Ehsaas has been carrying out this since 2015.

 

Tube well Project

 

A major project, first of its kind in Kashmir, was started in 2015 under which tube wells were dug in various remote villages of Kashmir where there was no source of clean water and population was compelled to use dirty and foul water for drinking and other domestic chores. The areas were suffering for need of water since decades and used to collect water from dirty rivulets. These areas were caught up in various water borne diseases for lack of drinking water. Ehsaas Trust acted as responsible implementation partner while as project was funded by IMRC – USA. Till now more than 50 wells have been dug and are being constantly maintained.

Caring for Environment

In a bid to inculcate care of environment and natural resources among masses, a major plantation drive is organised on arbour day every year wherein saplings are planted in various schools. Till now more than 5000 pine saplings have been planted.

Project Rebuilding Kashmir

This project was started in 2015 with a aim to rebuild houses for those people belonging to poor sections whose houses were damaged in September 2014 floods. These families, with much difficulty, were just able to make one square meal a day, living in tents and tin sheds and rebuilding house was far distant dream. The project is fully sponsored by IMRC – USA and shall keep going on in phased manner.

Eid gift for underprivileged kids

 

New clothes are distributed among underprivileged kids of various areas showing our care and love for poor and orphan children on Eve of Eid. Hundreds of kids receive Eid gifts under this every year.

Congregational Qurbani on Eid ul Adha

Every year number of sheep are sacrificed on behalf of people who donate for the purpose nationally and internationally and the meat is distributed, making family packs, to number of poor and needy families.

Grand Congregational Iftaar

A Grand Iftaar is  hosted every year in  few villages with most population of poor and needy familes in South and north kashmir  where in around 5000 people broke fast, prayed Magrib salah in congregation and had dinner with us.

Helping Fire Victims:

A few fire incidents took place in Kashmir valley in recent past at Habak, Sarai Bala and a major one at Malteng, Dalgate. Help in kind of warm clothes was provided to all affected families in these areas and in addition to that a full truck load of cement was donated among affected families of dalgate fire incident so as to help them to get rehabilitated.

 

Health Camps:

 

In order to conduct health camps a team of our volunteers underwent extensive training at Era’s Lucknow Medical College. These volunteers will be available at our health camps as and when they are conducted.

Marriage of Poor/Orphans girls:

It was seen that lots of poor girls who have attained marriageable age were not able to get married for want for help in marriage expenses. Such girls are helped with arrangement of all marriage expenses by our trust at bare minimum cost.

Career counselling and guidance:

 

Often career counselling camps are held in rural areas where there is less exposure to education and govt schemes. Prospective career seekers are gathered and guided to select a professional course as career and also govt schemes which are aimed to help them are introduced to them. If they are in need of scholarship aid, that’s also provided to them. Candidates from far flung areas are provided free coaching at a prestigious coaching centre for cracking professional entrance examinations. These candidates are also provided with free hostel facility near to coaching centre if need arises.
